What to expect from grief counseling, depression therapy, anxiety therapy

Making the decision to enter therapy can elicit a range of emotions - from being anxious about sharing with someone you don’t know, to feeling excited about getting started, to feeling relieved about getting the care you need. Each person starts in a different place and each person needs something different. My approach to therapy is to meet you where you are.  Sessions are tailored to your unique concerns.

The initial session begins with reviewing the consent form. It is important we do this at the outset so that I know you understand the practices and policies, especially concerning confidentiality. After that, we start where it feels comfortable for you. The first session usually lasts a little over an hour. At the end of it, we will have an idea of how it feels to work together and what the next steps are. The frequency of future sessions depends on what feels most beneficial to you. I will give you my opinion, but you are free to choose. Most people start out coming weekly or every other week. These sessions are one hour long.

Psychotherapy is an active and creative collaboration between us. I encourage you to communicate with me as to how therapy is proceeding, ask any questions you may have about methods, and give me feedback as to what is helpful and what is not.

payment

Participating in therapy is an investment in yourself, and you are worth it.

The fee for the initial session is $300. Follow-up individual sessions are $200/hour. Sessions that include a family member or significant other are $330/hour. Payment is requested at the time of the session, by cash, check, or credit card. I do reserve a few openings with a sliding fee scale for those who cannot afford the full fee.

I do not take any insurance.
